FRED DIXON

CEO, NEW YORK CITY TOURISM + CONVENTIONS

Serving the travel industry for over thirty years as president and CEO of New York City’s official destination marketing organisation, Fred’s leadership has been integral to the success of the city’s tourism economy. Fred has been with New York City Tourism + Conventions (previously known as NYC & Company) since 2005, previously serving as vice president before taking on the CEO role in 2014. His responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies that grow global business and leisure travel to NYC through tourism, meetings and events. s a leader in one of America’s most popular destinations and populous cities, Fred has led his city’s tourism sector through many crises, as he joined NYC & Company just four years after 9/11. In 2020, he used that experience to create the Coalition for NYC Hospitality and Tourism Recovery, an industry-wide initiative that brought together leaders from across the five boroughs of New York City. Supported by a $30 million investment by the City of New York and through the trusted leadership of Fred and his team, the coalition activated a roadmap for tourism recovery. A ‘Stay Well NYC’ pledge overtly embedded best in practice health and safety protocols for visitors and the visited across all tourism stakeholders and their offerings. This project was accompanied by a new revitalisation campaign, ‘All In NYC’.

Fred also holds leadership positions on boards and committees including the New York Convention Center Operating Corporation Board, the US Travel Association, the Meetings Mean Business Coalition and he is a member of the IPW Planning Committee.
